"Lilium's current sound is gnarlier and fuzzier than the seapunk aesthetic which she broke through with in 2014. Chamber Music is less spacious, less clean, although still full of memorable angular hooks." - The Wire (Sam Davies)
"Wow, c'est méga bien ça! ... C'est un peu genre digi-métal, j'adore. En 2020, on veut plein de digi-métal s'il vous plaît." - TRAX Magazine (Low Jack)
December 2019 Mixmag Album of the month. "7 out of 10"
"Chamber Music encapsulates the research of timbre and inclinations that sound doomed and victorious at the same time." - Soul Feeder (Greta Lombardi)
Written across a year and a half, mostly in Tokyo but also in Kyoto, ‘Chamber Music’ is a deeply personal story from start to finish. During that time Ultrademon (real name Lilium Kobayashi) was dealing with emotions of regret, loss, pain, tones of domination and submission, not to mention listening mostly to Metal. As a result, the album is very dark although ultimately triumphant. In the album Kobayashi utilizes field recordings, live performances, as well as digital production.
I love this because it sounds like a helicopter + breakdancing right out the gate - all the tracks are the length they should be - the track titles are perfect - and I just find I am listening to it constantly! knubberub
